August 9, 2000 ~ Fur Elise

Tonight is a bad night for computing. Seriously, folks. Don't step near to a computer unless you absolutely have to. BOTH of our computers just died. Seriously.

Buzzard (the server our chat room is on) lost a harddrive. Also, several of the software programs (like the whole figgin' operating system) crashed. Also, the new patch cable won't work.

At the same time, Vulture, our windows/desktop machine, vomited up a virus and crashed. When we tried to restart, the motherboard started playing a midi of Beethoven's "Fur Elise," while informing us that windows was fatally damaged and would have to be wiped and reinstalled.

Cute.

I love Fur Elise. Really I do. But not when it is warning me that my whole friggin' computer is being ERASED.

Ahem. So anyway, we managed to bypass the virus and save Vulture. Unfortunately, Buzzard is still down. We are giving up and going to bed. Will try again tomorrow. We figured The Almighty has just decided that tonight "thou shalt not compute." Arguing with the Almighty is just plain futile... so goodnight.
