August 25, 2000 ~ Buckling Down

Well. Chaos week has reached its end. All the pieces have settled, and I find myself holding one hell of a reading list.

I'm taking "Honors Seminar: History of Western Thought" (or something like that), "John Milton," "Literature and Philosophy," and "Modernism." All are English/Literature classes, and all have HEAVY reading, especially the Honors class and the Literature and Philosophy class. Just this week I have been reading both Plato's Republic and his Symposium. Modernism is a little different, because I design my own syllabus. I plan to read some Elliot, Lawrence, Joyce, etc. It should be very interesting. I plan to read ahead as much as I can on the weekends, so that I don't kill myself.

My financial aid FINALLY came through today!! A tremendous weight is off my shoulders. It looks as if it is just enough to pay for all of my school stuff. That leaves me with a little bit in my savings account to last for the wedding and the rest of the year. Books, too. Whew. I hated that feeling of not being able to do ANYTHING about it. It was all out of my hands. Now I can breathe.

And start in on that reading list...
