October 7, 2001 ~ Regardless, Remember

Regardless of your political stance, regardless of your opinions of this war, regardless of whether you think this is a necessary action or a pointless waste, regardless of your preference for violent or peaceful resistance...

Take a moment to mourn the lives lost this day.

For, regardless of whether they were friend or enemy, right or wrong, regardless of whether they were civilian, terrorist, or soldier...

They were humans.

They loved and they hated. They cried and they laughed. They dreamed and they despaired. They were beloved sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives.

And now...

They will never again love or hate. They will never again cry or laugh. They will never again dream or despair.

And now, regardless of whether they deserved death according to the American definition of justice, they deserve to be remembered among the fallen, to be mourned as our fellow humans.
