December 4, 2001 ~ Can't Live out of Boxes Forever

I should have done some homework tonight. I should have read out of my textbook tonight. But, as soon as I got home, I just looked at all of these boxes and couldn't stand the clutter. So I cleaned, unpacked, and organized.

Now it's late, and I'm tired, but the bathroom is all organized and unpacked, most of Morgan's and my clothes are in the closet, and--most importantly--the kitchen is completely unpacked, the recycling bins and bags have been set up, all surfaces and appliances are clean, the pantry is organized, the cupboards are full, and the entire mountain of dishes that was in there earlier this evening has been washed. I really felt like I accomplished a lot.

(but the house is still full of boxes).

It does feel good, though, to have at least one room completely organized and unpacked. And we can use the kitchen now, without stepping over boxes, having to search for every utensil or dish, or moving several things in order to sit at the table.

I'm looking forward to cooking in there, to baking in there. But for now I'm going to get to bed. I've got an early class tomorrow.

Footnotes:

weather: Clear, cool.

bookmarked: Archeology textbook, and some poetry.

writing focus: Workshopping other people's writing, editing for the magazine, and writing a poem.

observation: I wonder if it frosted last night. By the time we got outside, it was quite pleasant, but we didn't leave until eleven today.

mood: Tired, but optimistic.

journal land:

"No, everything is not ducky and peachy, but last time I checked, admission to Planet Earth did not include a glee guarantee. Really, what damned good would life be, if some of it didn't suck? How would you even know you were having a good time, if life were nothing but a non-stop rollercoaster of joy?"
