March 3, 2002 ~ Buffeted

Yesterday, I read. All day. I got up, started reading, and read pretty much all day long. It rained steadily all day, so I cuddled with Morgan under a blanket and read all through the storm.

I have been very productive this weekend, but I still have not finished all that I need to finish by Monday. I feel confident, however, and that is the real battle.

Today Morgan had to go to the college to help a friend with his computer, so I just sat in the wind-buffeted car and read. We were parked at the top of a steep incline, overlooking the farm. I read Shakespeare as hawks flew by, tilting and whirling in the sharp gusts, against a backdrop of ominous clouds, blue mountains, and cold, cold cows.

Footnotes:

weather: Really windy, and the temperature is quickly dropping. It's supposed to reach 16 degrees tonight. There are snow flurries.

bookmarked: Lots of poetry and some Shakespeare. Also read a whole lot more of Nature Religion in America yesterday.

writing focus: Not today.

observation: All yesterday, I read, and I read, and I read some more, with the steady patter of raindrops on the windows. It was very relaxing.

news notes: Developing a "holodeck." My inner Trekkie is loving this.

cooking: Mmmmm... Delicious red pepper sauce over pasta, with asparagus to the side.

random: My step-mother-in-law is coming over tonight to stay a few days with us.

mood: Happy.

journal land:

"So I'm not bothered that we have a Shadow Government that runs when things look dire. What does bother me is that this many months later, it's still running. This was never a program meant to run all the time, it's to be activated in emergency situations- so what does the government know that we don't? What are they expecting that will come as a total surprise to us? That bothers me. Almost as much as sounding like Mulder bothers me."
