December 21, 2005 ~ Grove Ray Davis
Wednesday.
a rare wakeful moment
Welcome to the world, little one!
Grove was born at 10:45pm on Wednesday, December 14, in the middle of an ice storm that would later knock out the power. He weighed 8lbs 8oz, was 21-inches long, and had a head circumference of 14 inches. An incredibly healthy little boy, scoring very well in all tests.

But those stats don't say a thing. They don't mention how he sometimes sings a sweet sighing "Ahhhh" in his sleep. They don't speak to how those incredible blue eyes widen, mesmerized at the sight of reflected light patterns on the wall. How Morgan and I can't even get all that frustrated when he keeps us up at night for hours, because he'll do something cute or funny or incredible and we're either melting or laughing together at 4am. When we look at him, we see the rest of our life stretched out before us, and that life is one more fulfilling than we could ever have asked for--everything else in the world becomes meaningless and secondary next to him.

I will be posting the birth story as soon as I can. Please pardon me if I don't answer your e-mail right now, as I'm not supposed to be sitting at the computer for long periods yet. I am reading them all, though!
Also, several of you on the notify list have asked for an address to send your congratulations. That can be found here, at the baby shower page that was put together for relatives.
Thank you so much for all of the support!
