November 27, 2006 ~ Tide Pooling

Monday.

I have one last set of pictures from my trip to the Oregon coast back in August 2005. And I've shown pictures and experiences from that beach trip here and here, but I haven't really explained why my mom and I went. I was out there in Oregon to see my whole family, of course, one last time before the new baby arrived, and I wanted to be there for my friend Suzanne's wedding and my brother's college graduation. But the beach trip, my mother planned especially to give the two of us some alone time to reconnect. We hadn't done anything fun together, just the two of us, since I was a kid.

So we went to her friend's little house in Manzanita. We brought entirely too much food. We talked a lot. We watched movies. We hiked and walked the beaches. We went on scenic drives. She taught me how to knit. I picked huckleberries for us to bake into a pie when we got back to her house. And the following pictures are from tide pooling at Cannon Beach.

It was an incredible trip, all of it.
