February 8, 2007 ~ Ice, Blooms, and Dynamite

Thursday.

A few moments from the last few days:

February 5th "In the Life":

Rose stomps the ice

Rose's favorite toy in the whole world is the block of ice from the water bucket in the pen. First she stomps it and scratches it up, then she sniffs it all over, then she lays down to gnaw on it. When she knows it's cold enough outside for the water to have frozen, she'll drive us crazy whining to be let out to the pen in the morning so that she can play with her ice.

February 6th "In the Life":

Grove at the Piano

Guess who just realized that he's tall enough to reach a certain very noisy "toy."

February 7th "In the Life":

I couldn't narrow the pictures from this day down into one, so:

Grove

"Mom, get off the computer, let's go on a hike!"

Grove

"Pleeeease?"

blooming crocus

We discovered on our hike that the crocuses out front have started to bloom!

roasted Brussels sprouts

I have always loved Brussels sprouts, no matter how they are cooked, but Morgan was not very fond of them. I recently read a recipe where they were roasted, however, and we'd never tried that, so I made some tonight. Oh wow. This brings Brussels sprouts to a whole new level. And Morgan really enjoyed them! These will be a new favorite side dish.

February 8th "In the Life":

Well, the camera battery died right after we started our hike. So today, all I have is a picture of the dynamite blast on Suicide Ridge. I wish I knew who had blasted into the side of the mountain, and why.
