February 10, 2007 ~ Morgan and Me

Saturday.

It was pretty funny, actually. As soon as they read my wish to take Morgan on a date, both sets of his parents offered to help make it happen. I love Morgan's family so much.

So, on Friday, my mother-in-law came up for the weekend.

And on Saturday, she handed Morgan and me some money and shooed us out the door. She and Grove played and napped and went on a few errands, and generally had a lot of fun.

Meanwhile, Morgan and I went to a movie together (Pan's Labyrinth, the first movie I've seen in a theater in over a year), spent some time downtown, went out for sushi at Wasabi, and had dessert at a Old World Coffee.

But it wasn't just where we went, though it's been a long, long while since we've been able to splurge like that. For the past year, we've been so focused on being parents that we can rarely focus all of our attention on each other. Balance is very hard to achieve, and it takes constant effort. Today, full of flirting, uninterrupted philosophical conversations, good food enjoyed together... Well. It was very needed, very nice.
