February 20, 2007 ~ Fifteen's Just Too Fast

Tuesday.

Three images from today.

Clouds gathered all day, but we only saw a few sprinkles in the evening.

campus speed limit: 14 miles per hour

I snapped this picture as I walked with Grove over to Morgan's office this evening. Yes, the campus speed limit is fourteen miles per hour. Not fifteen.

One of my (ex) student workers sat in on the meeting where they discussed the campus speed limit. When someone asked, "But... why fourteen? Why not 15 miles per hour?"

From the back of the room one of the facilities management supervisors drawled with finality, "'Cause fifteen's just too fast."

And that was that. Our speed limit is fourteen miles per hour 'cause fifteen's just too fast.

Sometimes I think that we all take the college's tag line of "We're not for everyone... But maybe you're not everyone" a little TOO seriously.

And from later this evening... This is my boot.

We have gotten in the habit of checking our shoes before we pull them on, because a certain little someone likes to leave "presents" inside of them. (Under the ducky were a receipt and a block). This was cute. When it's bits of gummed-up slimy cracker mush? Not so cute.
