March 6, 2007 ~ Jones Mountain, Revisited
Tuesday.
Back to Jones Mountain where the periwinkle was starting to bloom, through the woods at the base where ruins loom behind the trees, lone chimney reaching to the sky. By the pond where there are no longer any mallards, across the fields of prickle grass, down by the river to find an old trail lost in the rhododendrons. Through brush and briars, up a vale between two ridges. Across the clearcut that made that trail unused. Back down the mountain again, following the line of tulip poplars home.
